FAQ

Q: How do I book a cabin?

You can book your cabin directly online under the check availability tab or you can call us at 706-896-740. A credit card is required for booking. Weddings and events can be booked by calling 706-896-7400.

Q: How do I "Save the Date" at the Retreat for my wedding?

A $1000 deposit non refundable deposit is required to save your date which is applied to your wedding package. All contracts must be returned signed within 30 days of your paid deposit or your date will be rescinded and all deposits lost.

Q: How many guests can the Retreat hold?

Cabins can sleep a total of 59 and our events hold up to 200 guests.

Q: Where is the Retreat located?

We are on S.R. 17/75 just 28 miles North of Helen and 8 miles from the center of Hiawassee, GA. (Latitude: 34.902385 / Longitude: -83.722237)

Q: What hotels are close to the Retreat?

We have 11 cabins to choose from, if we are booked for your event Hiawassee does have additional hotels to choose from and we will be happy to suggest and arrange additional accommodations.

Q: Does the Retreat provide any tables and chairs for the Venue?

Yes, all tables and chairs are included in all wedding package prices.

Q: Can I visit the Retreat for a tour?

Yes, please call 706-896-7400 to schedule an appointment for a private tour.

Q: What supplies are provided in the cabin?

The cabins are fully furnished and should meet all the comforts of home. Cable T.V., high speed internet, microwave, full size fridge, stove & oven, dishwasher (in most cabins), gas fireplace, 12 cup coffee maker/pots/pans/toaster/dishes/silverware, etc. Each cabin is stocked with a starter supply of “amenity items” such as toilet paper, paper towels, coffee filters, coffee, sugars, creamers, dish soap, trash bags, and bath products. You will need to bring extra amenity items for your comfort depending on the length of your stay.

Q: Are linens and towels provided?

Yes, we provide all bath towels, bed linens, and kitchen towels to accommodate the number of occupants per cabin. We are not a hotel therefore daily linen service is not provided. You should bring more towels from home if more are needed for comfort during your stay.

Q: How do the deposits work for cabin rentals?

We require a $100.00 non-refundable deposit at the time of booking to reserve each cabin. Full payment is due within 30 days of arrival. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Q: What is your cabin cancellation policy?

For cancellations more than 30 days prior to arrival, we’ll refund your payments less a $100 non-refundable deposit. For cancellations within 30 days of your arrival, we are not able to refund your payment. However, we will allow you to transfer your reservation or move your date one time at no charge to avoid cancellation.

Q: What is the check-in and check-out time for cabin rentals?

Check-in time is 3:00 p.m. and Check-out time is 11:00 a.m.

Q: May we take engagement or bridal pictures at the Retreat?

Yes, if you have a wedding scheduled at the Retreat you have use of the venue for pre-wedding pictures. An appointment must be made by contacting the office in advance and scheduling your date and time on Sunday – Thursdays only, and if it does not conflict with other scheduled events.

Q: Do you have a Preferred Vendor List?

Yes.  We are currently building out a comprehensive list of preferred vendors.  These are vendors that we feel provide exceptional service, and in no event does the Retreat receive any fees/rebates/kick-backs for referring them.  Furthermore, in order to protect our brides from unsatisfactory service, ALL vendors must be approved by the Retreat as some have been blacklisted from our Venue.  Please ask for our Preferred vendor list and recommendations.

Q: Can I Use My Own Caterer/Florist/Decorator?

Yes.  Vendors must be pre-approved by the Retreat at least 45 days prior to the event date.  We highly encourage our brides to use one of preferred caterers for several reasons that we will discuss with you during your tour.

Q: Can I provide my own alcohol?

Yes, the Retreat is the venue only. We will discuss alcohol options with you at the time of your tour.

Q: Can my vendors pick up items the next day?

All rentals and vendor items must be loaded out at the conclusion of your event.  If there is not an event scheduled the day after your event, you may have the option to have your rentals picked up at a different time but this must be approved in writing by the Retreat.  This will be documented during your final walk-through, and part of your contract.

Q: Where Do We Park?

The Retreat has designated paved parking at each cabin, and plenty of room for overflow parking for larger events with signs in our field.

Q: Does the Venue Permit Smoking?

The Retreat is a NON SMOKING Venue.  We ask that all individuals smoke at least 50 feet away from the Venue.  Please also respect the grounds and dispose of any and all cigarette buds.

$200.00 fine per cabin for evidence of smoking in cabins for rentals.

Loss of event security deposit for violation of Non-Smoking as part of rules in contract for event rental.

Q: Do you have more than one event at a time?

No, the Retreat is your Venue during your scheduled time.  The Retreat does reserve the right to perform tours of the venue up until 5:00 on Fridays and will not disrupt any setup of the event.

Q: Are pets allowed?

Yes, with prior approval and in certain cabins. We have a STRICT pet policy for the safety of all of our guests. 25lb maximum weight and no aggressive breeds are allowed. We have the right to refuse service to any guest if approval of pet(s) has not been authorized upon arrival.
